Conceptual Massing

Conceptual Massing is the early exploration of a project’s form, scale, and spatial relationships. Using simplified 3D volumes, we study how the proposed addition or building fits within the site, zoning constraints, and existing architecture.
It is the first visual translation of feasibility into spatial possibilities.

What We Explore

  • Building form and scale
  • Addition size and placement
  • Street presence and proportion
  • Natural light and solar orientation
  • Circulation and spatial flow
  • Relationship between new and existing spaces

What’s Included

  • Simplified 3D massing models
  • Multiple form and layout options
  • Solar and orientation studies
  • Spatial relationship diagrams
  • Preliminary material direction
  • Up to 4 revisions during the phase

Why It Matters

Massing establishes the overall shape and strategy of the project before detailed design begins. It helps clients clearly understand scale, light, connectivity, and project potential; creating a strong foundation for the architectural design process.
